Dresses from Target :
Seriously, who goes to Target and doesn’t spend hours looking at stuff- don’t lie! The last time I went, I wanted to get all these dresses. I didn’t have much time so I just clicked some pics and this time I’ll probably get a few!
We went there to get a gift for a cute little Kiddo…. This is what we liked- so much that I want one for me too. hehehehe
So what do you think????? what is on your wishlist??
Coconut oil has been in my life since I was born. I’m from India and coconut in it’s entirety is an integral aspect of our lives! In the south of India, generations of people have cooked and bathed in coconut oil and hence we always see them with thick, shiny hair! The coconut oil – just like turmeric, yoga and Ghee- has recently been gaining a lot of attention in the states (because they read that some gorgeous model use it!) Anywho, everything you’ve heard about the ubiquitous coconut oil is very true – including the fact that it will clog your basin sink 😉
Usually, Coconut oil can be categorized in a few ways : virgin, specially for cooking, fractionated etc…. Virgin and cooking oil can be ingested and used in a variety of delicacies and also for oil pulling which is very popular these days. I’ll talk about those another day and jump straight to the third one!
What is fractionated oil : It is formulated as a carrier oil which can be used alone or in tandem with other essential oils. It does not solidify or crystallize like the virgin coconut oil and heats up quickly to spread over the body. It is widely used for massages.
So why can’t we just use one oil for everything??? you see, everything has it’s purpose. Even when you use the cooking olive oil on your body, you might feel that it is heavy and clogs pores. Similarly, with coconut oil, you want something that is emollient enough that it spreads easily and gets absorbed by the skin. not coagulate it!
I had heard a lot about the goPure range of oils that sold good quality fractionated oils and ordered them from Amazon
USES OF FRACTIONATED OIL:
To make massage oils
To make skincare like moisture cakes, lip balms, etc
To keep your feet from cracking
As a great cuticle oil
As a pre-conditioner for hair
I use it all the time to shave my legs
Can be mixed with granulated salt or sugar to make natural body scrub.
Is an excellent makeup remover – removes even the toughest mascara without ruining the lashes
Can be used on babies to massage them without worrying about checmicals.
MAkes a wonderful protectant for the skin in extreme cold temperatures!
These are just some uses on the top of my head. My grandfather never used any store bought skin stuff- all he used was coconut oil and till the day he expired, he had great skin and hair!
The only CON I’d say is that if you use it in the sink or the bath tub, it will make it slippery and overtime clog the drain, so be very careful or just spray some scrubbing foam or something.
Talking about this is like going back to my roots. It feels like I have come full circle with this oil! Do let me know if you have used Coconut oil and what your experience is. What is the one thing that you do that reminds you of childhood?

Hey guys… hope you had a lovely holiday weekend. We were planning to go out of town and had packed accordingly but we ended up shopping and lounging around the flat and going out and about. Also, we wore the clothes that I packed so it was like a hotel.. LOL! We also shopped a lot and got some really good discounts. What did you guys get for black friday?
Now, if you know me, you know how much I love lining my eyes. I wanted to love gel liners so much but all of them transfer on my upper lid after a while because of my oily hooded lids. I’ve used so may gels and pencils but nothing work other than liquid liners. When they launched this one with so many lovely claims, it made me happy. But did I really like it…. read further to know!
Benefit says : Benefit They’re Real! Push-Up Liner is the first foolproof and budge-proof gel liner in a pen that lasts a full 24 hours. This eyeliner’s soft AccuFlex™ tip is custom-angled to draw an easy line. Its flat, wide guard gently pushes lashes aside to get close to lash line. A gorgeous way to open up eyes, this matte black gel formula won’t dry out, and its cutting-edge tip ensures a precise line every time.
Cost : $24
My take on the liner : The design and the promotion for this was perfect. The slanted tip offered precise application and the pen form was great for travel and on-the-go. When you open it the first time, There is a stopper which you have to remove and twist up from the bottom. the product comes up in the brush and can be applied directly. Easy-peasy??? not so much!!!
The product comes out unevenly and The application is so blotchy. When you twist it, the gel comes out either too less or too much. the gel consistency is really dry. The product crumbles and breaks on the lid making it super messy and I really had to apply some pressure to manage to get a line. At this rate, I’m sure I’m going to injure my lid.. lol!
The MUAs at Sephora say that you take out the product, blot it and then apply…. do you realize how much that wastes the product? and it’s pretty expensive if you ask me! Although Once it is on the lid, it stays for a really long time and won’t budge even when I tried to wash it with oil. I have to really massage my eyes with baby oil to completely get it out. During the wear time, it does not transfer or smudge all over the lid or down the face so that’s a plus.
I tried to apply this a couple of times and had to make use of a Q-tip immersed with remover to make the wing right.
Verdict : This baby really was disappointing! It really is no use wasting your time or money when there are other far superior drugstore products!
I remember when these came out 6 months back there was such a buzz around it!!! They launched about 30 shades and the blogosphere was going ga-ga about them! I’m crazy about NARS and I absolutely love their products , of course I had to try it! But the credit goes to the guy… One time I was upset and he just randomly went to Sephora and got me this. Thank God He got this shade. This was one of the limited edition shades released by NARS. NARS is slowly becoming my top favourite brand, even their shadows complement my oily lids so well. If only they weren’t so expensive!!!!!
Marisa Audacious Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “warm pink.”
My take on Marisa : This , actually speaking, is a very confusing shade : It’s a medium pink with cool, blue undertones but on some women, it looks like a nice warm pink. If you don’t believe me, check out pictures. NARS has taken a lot of thought in making these. I’m guessing this entire range has a satin finish. It had intense color payoff in one stroke, while it applied evenly and smoothly. The good part was: It applies seamlessly and is pretty forgiving on dry lips. with a brush, it’ll apply much better. The staying power is pretty good too. A couple of hours on me and leaves a lovely faint stain on me.
It has “NARS” embossed on the main lipstick tube which is the reason I don’t wait to use it up so quickly- hahahaha! Also, the casing is totally black, squared, and magnetic… I’ve actually seen some vines with girls playing with the casing!!!!
Verdict :It’s a lovely article to have. I’d compare it with a collective scarf from my favourite designer! But it’ll be good to have a couple of them in your kitty!!!
“Sometimes you have but a few minutes to spare, and an event calls for an updo with a bit of class and sophistication. That’s when you whip out this bad boy: the three minute woven updo,” explains explains Wendy Rose Gould beauty expert for hair tutorial and advice site Latest-Hairstyles.com.
“As the name implies, this hairstyle takes all of 3 minutes to recreate. Not to mention, the finished look makes it seem as if you spent hours slaving away in front of your mirror. We’ll leave it up to you on whether or not you want to reveal just how simple it was to do when the oohs and ahhs start rolling in. For this look, all you need are some bobby pins and a bit of hairspray. You can also apply a nourishing serum to your hair before starting in order to create glossier locks. Oh, and for your convenience, we’ve included a text tutorial, video tutorial and a photo tutorial. Whew!”
The 3 Minute Woven Updo:
Step 1: Gather Front Section of Hair
Take a small section of hair from the front of your head. Gently twist and then push section up a little bit to create some lift at the top of your head. Secure with two criss-crossed bobby pins.
Step 2: Twist a Small Section
Take the section of hair that begins just above the ear and ends where your front section stopped. Gently twist it and drape across the back of your head, then secure.
Step 3: Repeat On The Other Side
Do the same thing again on the opposite side of your head. To conceal your bobby pins, drape this second twisted section over the last bobby pin. When securing this section, make sure the bobby pin you use is tucked under the other twisted section of hair.
Step 4: Repeat Steps 2 and 3
Follow steps two and three again, this time using sections of hair from behind the ear. Secure with bobby pins.
Step 5: Create a Bun
Gather the leftover section of hair. Start twisting it and then wrap it into itself to create a simple twisted bun. Secure with bobby pins. If you have layered hair like me, you may have pieces sticking out. Tuck them in and then spray lightly with hairspray. You can also apply a light coat of hairspray over the entire look to keep everything in place.
To celebrate this blogging milestone, she has teamed up with a few of her favorite bloggin’ buddies (including myself!), and a few fabulous brands to host a giveaway, which includes some amazing summer beauty essentials!
Scentbird is a monthly perfume sampling subscription box. When you sign up, you take a preferences quiz to help them suggest recommendations for you to try, and you can also go browse and rate the rest of their selection to make the recommendations even more accurate. You can build a queue of fragrances you’d like to try or you can let yourself be surprised every month. This box was sent to me for review purposes.
Cost: $14.95/monthly, $14.50/month with a 3-month plan, $14/month with a 6 month plan, or $13.50/month with a year plan.
What do you get: One 8 ml spray atomizer of a 100% authentic perfume.
With your first month’s delivery, you receive a perfume case that fits your 8 ml sprays inside . It comes in a light cylindrical case which is easy to open and close, making it a delight to travel with. To open it, you just twist it. Twist again to lower the spray completely down into the case to keep it safe in your purse. To switch perfumes, you just open the case, pull the vial out, and place the next one inside.
My take on Scentbird : I was skeptical at first because I keep losing the samples I get at Sephora. Also the fact that they finish in like 4 spritzes. They have hundreds of perfumes for selection which was really nice. If you want to have a few special perfumes without committing to a full bottle, this is a great way. I say this because I have a few bottles of my favorites and I’m so scared to carry them – specially in flights!!! I selected the Gucci Guilty from the Scentbird list because I wanted to try it since ages!
All perfumes are authentic. While ScentBird isn’t associated with the designers or manufacturers in any way, they do pride themselves on offering only authentic perfumes. So, you don’t need to worry about dropping money on a knock-off!
Basically, all you need to know is that ScentBird is a great way to test out some killer scents on a budget! All you fragrance-lovers out there, I highly recommend giving ScentBird a shot!
Comparisons : The basic complaint everyone has is “why to buy samples when we get them free at Sephora” … you my friend are so wrong!!! If you see the pic, There is a vast difference between the sizes. This baby is very comparable to a rollerball that costs almost $25.
Hey guys…. since it’s almost friday, I thought I’d share something fun.
A couple weeks back El hubs friend came just to chat over something and we got so frikkin bored later (the part of Florida where I live is a “family place” and shuts down after 9pm :-|) …. so , we decided to watch some movies and make fun of them! And what goes well with that???? I’m glad you asked! Popcorn and Margaritas!!!!
It helped that I’d gone grocery shopping that afternoon and got yummy plump mangoes. Usually sane people cut up their mangoes and eat them or make healthy smoothies- we decided to smoosh them into margaritas!
I absolutely love this
because it is really light and does not give me any headache!!! Also, I kind of just whipped everything in a blender so it’s not rocket science!
-PARTIDA Blanco Tequila (About 2 measures as shown)
– 2-3 Mangoes (or pulp)
– Cointreau (If you have any!)
– Salt and lime (to garnish : I added some lime zest and lime to the mixture too)
HERE we go :
Voila…… tell me , what weird things have you done on a boring rainy weekend!!!
