Hey my pretties… Summer is just around the corner and all the prints and brights have started making rounds on blogosphere. Which also means there is a lot more sun and tanned skin (whether we like it or not). Usually, I shop for foundations twice a year: in summers and winters. A shade lighter in winters and a shade darker in summers. This time, thankfully, I didn’t tan much but my favourite foundation is still a shade darker. Thankfully, The body shop was kind enough to send me these multi-functional shade adjusting drops.
The product is essentially a really concentrated pigment in liquid form, designed to be mixed with primers, sunscreens, moisturizers, bb creams, concealers, foundations, etc to make a custom whatever to suit your needs. As a person who experiments a lot, this was a gleeful moment for me *insert opera sounds* Body Shop says : Transform an “almost right” shade into your perfect one in just one drop with The Body Shop’s Shade Adjusting Drops. Lightening drop lightens and neutralizes yellowness, while the darkening drop darkens while keeping natural depth. These retail for $20 each and for the quantity and usage, I’d say it’s pretty darn good.
My take on the product : The droppers looked like a great idea to me, because you really need just one drop. The consistency is pretty thick but still blends wonderfully with your base. The Lightening contains white and pink pigments to lighten and counteract yellow in foundation. I have used it regularly for the past few months and I can say that it is a blessing. It does not compromise on the quality of the base nor does it alter the texture. My foundation stays in place all day (except my nose which is an oil well).
The Darkening has black and red pigments. It adds the perfect amount of ashy shadow color to your foundation for a cream contour. One thing about the dark shade though : It has gray undertones, so if you are light to medium skintones, it won’t help you much. I mostly use it to contour subtly (as shown in my video)
Not a huge fan of the kardashian contouring but love multitasking products… Also, subtle touch ups don’t hurt anyone… I love these shade adjusting drops by @thebodyshop they can be used to either darken or lighten the base. As usual, I tried to multitask them and use the dark shade for a subtle contour and the light one as a matte highlight just on top of the cheeks…. Make your own rules!!!!!
