My first YSL- yayyyy!!!! YSL has always been on my radar. I absolutely fell in love when they released the YSL lip stains. When these released, I thought for some reason, they were nail polishes ($40 for polishes seemed pretty outrageous to me) But I was shopping on my anniversary and these really won me over *goes in the corner and hides in shame*
YSL says : Babydoll Kiss and Blush by Yves Saint Laurent adds a perfect flirtatious pop of color to your lips and cheeks. The blendable, air-whipped mousse formula has a soft matte finish and features an exclusive applicator for precise application and buildable color that goes exactly where you want it to.
Cost : $40 for 0.33 fl Oz
My take on 03 Rose Libre : I wanted to get a brighter color but I mostly wear n*de shades so I settled on this one. This one was the perfect pink toned nearly MLBB for me. Color wise it is a lovely Salmon pink. Rose Libre is a perfect name for it! If you’re a friends fanatic like me, do you remember that scene when Ross hides in his ex’s flat to find his “Salmon shirt” – this reminded me of that- LOL! Packaging wise, it has a small square glass bottle and long cylindrical cap. The good thing about the size it that I’ll be able to finish the product. The firm velveteen sponge-tip applicator has a tear drop shape which makes application really easy. To talk about the texture, it is more like a cream and blends beautifully on the lips. The feel on the lips is neither shiny or matte. It has great pigmentation too. Although the brush makes it apply a bit sheer, it is really buildable. It will perform beautifully on women with darker complexion AND dry skin. I tried to apply on my cheeks (using both fingers and the Real Techniques expert face brush) but on my oily skin it literally evaporates within 2 hours. I’m going to continue using it as a lip creme. This range is great for elderly women too as it doesn’t feather or bleed beyond the lip lines. It stayed on my lips for quite a long time – but it went away with my coffee cup, although it did leave a pretty stain behind and my lips totally feel all soft and cushiony. Excellent for work and formal wear! Also comes in a variety of shades to choose from!
I have tried applying a lip liner underneath and it stayed for longer – also, my lips appeared to be more “polished” and put together with the liner .
The Cons : Other than being extremely expensive, It is a bit bulky due to the glass. Also, I’m not sure about using the same brush for lips and cheeks.
Verdict : It totally is like that expensive dress in your closet. The one which you can rarely afford but makes you look like a fox. 😉
